A magnificent knock from Sohaib Maqsood came to an end when he tried to play a shot too many and was brilliantly caught by AB de Villiers behind mid-off. Surprisingly, Sohail Tanvir was promoted up the order but his stay didn’t last long and he was dismissed by Steyn off a perfect bouncer. Misbah-ul-Haq slapped Mclaren for a six over deep midwicket to bring his half-century in style. Pakistan’s progress from here onwards will depend a lot on how Misbah shapes his innings. Umar Akmal is the new man in.

Pakistan lost two more wickets of Mohammad Hafeez and Asad Shafiq within three balls and while they looked all set to stumble yet again after a good start, Misbah and Sohaib Maqsood have come to their rescue as the duo has so far added unbeaten 40 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. Hafeez got out to a soft dismissal as he played a poor shot and the ball knocked his stumps. Shafiq’s stay at the crease lasted for just two balls as he was surprised by a bouncer from Tsotsobe and was caught. Pakistan have scored 46 runs in the last ten overs and Sohaib Maqsood has enthralled the crowd with some superb strokes so far.

Pakistan lost their first wicket in the most unfortunate manner when Ahmed Shahzad was run-out after playing a good knock of 43 runs. Hafeez played a delivery from JP Duminy and ran for a single, Shahzad immediately responded but wasn’t quick enough as AB de Villiers throw sent him back to the pavilion. Hafeez and Shahzad added 74 runs for the first wicket. Misbah-ul-Haq is the new man at the crease.

Junaid Khan picked his first wicket of the match when AB de Villiers failed to clear the off-side field and Hafeez took a good catch running backwards at cover. Junaid went on to end de Kock’s resistance as the left-hander worked a ball towards mid-off where Misbah took a good diving catch. Hafeez got rid of the dangerous David Miller who missed a quicker delivery and was trapped in front of the wicket. While one could sense a sudden collapse from South Africa, JP Duminy and Ryan McLaren came to the rescue work as they added unbeaten 52 runs for the sixth wicket. Pakistan need 277 runs to win the match.
